McBride Glacier, icebergs aerial
Add to Cart Add to Lightbox DownloadThe retreating McBride Glacier, located just off the Muir Inlet in Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve in southeast Alaska, is the most active glacier and only tidewater glacier in the Muir Inlet. McBride Glacier is approximately 1⁄2 mile wide and 14 miles long. Its ice face is approximately 200 feet high above the water and extends about 270 feet below it. This aerial photo, shot after an early November snow storm, shows Icebergs from the calving glacier traveling down the McBride Glacier inlet to the main Muir Inlet. The mountain ridge in the center is McConnell Ridge.
